Very nice setting, but also very busy.
Came here for the spicy ricecakes with noodles and spicy pork, squid, and rice. Delicious! -

Today's the first time I came back here since two years ago in 2017! The first thing that caught my attention was definitely how the whole place got renovated. It definitely looks better now than how it did back then, but the spacing in the store was quite cramped.
The menu is definitely much more expensive now and prices increased by several dollars. The pork cutlet dish was $13 and a bit too overpriced. It used to be $9-$10.
I ordered the kimchi roll today thinking it would be good, but it was a disappointment. The kimchi in the roll overpowered the rest of the flavors, so I don't really recommend getting this type of roll.
In general, I do think Kimganae is a decent place if you're up to a simple casual meal. -

Food is solid and for the price point it will satisfy the Korean cravings that you have once in a while.
I didn't have a chance to take a picture of everything, but among the three of us we ordered a omurice, cheese donkatsu, and a jjolmyun ddeokbokki.
The food is very simple and clean. For the three of us ordering three things was more than enough, but had we ordered two dishes I think we would've been left wanting a little more, so it depends on how hungry you are. -

I haven't been to Kimgaenae in 4-5 years (since high school!), but besides the interior, this places has not changed at all! The food is still delicious and cheap, and the restaurant is still super small and cramp. It amazes me to think the taste hasn't changed since I was a little girl!
Order:
- Kimganae Pork Cutlet (5/5) ~ Comes with a scoop of rice, corn, and a salad
- Bibimbap (4/5) ~ Comes with rice, bean sprouts, carrot, radish, mushroom, cucumber, and an egg with a gochugang on the side
Pros:
- A lot of Korean style "street food" to choose from
- Tasty
- Cheap ~ They also have a lunch special
- Very good portion size ~ especially for what you're paying for
- Quick and friendly servers ~ Food comes out pretty quickly too
- Complimentary soup and kkakdugi (radish kimchi)
- Conveniently located close to the 7-train
- Renovated interior ~ Restaurant has a much more clean and modern look
Cons:
- Very small restaurant ~ While they renovated the interior, I feel like the restaurant actually got smaller. They do have more seats in the basement, but I would not recommend coming with a large group
- Good luck finding parking in this area if you didn't come by subway or bus
Overall:
- I highly recommend coming to Kimganae if your looking for a cheap and filling meal. It's also a great restaurant to get introduced to Korean food! -

I have dined at Kimganae a bunch of times and haven't had a terrible experience. They offer simple Korean comfort foods such as kimbap rolls, noodles, soups, and huge rice dishes. You'll get daikon kimchi and soup to start off. I usually get the beef or tuna kimbaps here. I also have tried the kimchi fried rice and the rice cake & dumplings soup as well. I did noticed that the prices increased by $1-$2 compared to last year tho.
The service is pretty attentive and they will refill the soup if you want. I really like that they accept credit cards, but you'll have to pay tip in cash.
The restaurant is small. It's best to come alone, in pairs, or groups of four. The wait for a table could be 10 minutes or so during peak dining times. But, if you're in a rush then you can definitely do takeout.
